Tanzania T-bill auction, 14 January 2015: 364-day at 15.04%, down 155 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 January 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 14.28% (up 64 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.64% (down 84 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.04% (down 155 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 458.2bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 347% of the amount sought, and TZS 128.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.97%, so the government is paying 93 basis points less than twelve months ago.
