Tanzania T-bill auction, 3 December 2014: 364-day at 15.87%, up 98 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 December 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 12.76% (up 33 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.97% (up 88 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.87% (up 98 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 102.9bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 78% of the amount sought, and TZS 90.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.93%, so the government is paying 95 basis points more than twelve months ago.
