Tanzania T-bill auction, 19 November 2014: 364-day at 14.90%, up 53 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 November 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 12.42% (up 72 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.09% (up 36 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.90% (up 53 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 93.7bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 71% of the amount sought, and TZS 93.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.97%, so the government is paying 7 basis points less than twelve months ago.
