Tanzania T-bill auction, 5 November 2014: 364-day at 14.37%, up 41 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 November 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 11.70% (up 40 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.73% (up 34 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.37% (up 41 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 214.6bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 163% of the amount sought, and TZS 132.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.48%, so the government is paying 112 basis points less than twelve months ago.
