Tanzania T-bill auction, 22 October 2014: 364-day at 13.96%, up 60 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 October 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 11.30% (up 143 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.39% (up 26 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.96% (up 60 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 164.9bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 125% of the amount sought, and TZS 147.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.71%, so the government is paying 175 basis points less than twelve months ago.
