Tanzania T-bill auction, 8 October 2014: 364-day at 13.37%, up 18 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 October 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 9.87% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.13% (up 12 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.37% (up 18 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 189.6bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 144% of the amount sought, and TZS 138.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.96%, so the government is paying 259 basis points less than twelve months ago.
