Tanzania T-bill auction, 24 September 2014: 364-day at 13.19%, down 13 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 September 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 9.88% (down 195 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.01% (down 30 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.19% (down 13 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 392.8bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 298% of the amount sought, and TZS 271.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.88%, so the government is paying 269 basis points less than twelve months ago.
