Tanzania T-bill auction, 2 July 2014: 364-day at 13.63%, up 61 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 July 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 13.56% (up 80 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.63% (up 61 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 109.4bn against TZS 65.0bn on offer, 168% of the amount sought, and TZS 58.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.77%, so the government is paying 114 basis points less than twelve months ago.
