Tanzania T-bill auction, 18 June 2014: 364-day at 13.02%, up 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 June 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 10.56% (down 11 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.77% (down 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.02% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 111.2bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 84% of the amount sought, and TZS 111.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.51%, so the government is paying 149 basis points less than twelve months ago.
