Tanzania T-bill auction, 6 November 2013: 364-day at 14.97%, down 51 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 November 2013, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 12.99% (down 69 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.96% (down 50 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.97% (down 51 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 280.5bn against TZS 140.0bn on offer, 200% of the amount sought, and TZS 163.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.43% to 15.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.40%, so the government is paying 157 basis points more than twelve months ago.
