Tanzania T-bill auction, 20 November 2013: 364-day at 14.93%, down 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 November 2013, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 13.40% (up 41 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.88% (down 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.93% (down 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 190.8bn against TZS 155.0bn on offer, 123% of the amount sought, and TZS 187.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.47% to 15.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.18%, so the government is paying 174 basis points more than twelve months ago.
