Tanzania T-bill auction, 23 October 2013: 364-day at 15.48%, down 23 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 23 October 2013, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 13.68% (down 8 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.45% (down 15 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.48% (down 23 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 210.1bn against TZS 140.0bn on offer, 150% of the amount sought, and TZS 128.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.18% to 15.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.47%, so the government is paying 202 basis points more than twelve months ago.
