Tanzania T-bill auction, 9 October 2013: 364-day at 15.71%, down 24 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 October 2013, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 13.76% (down 8 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.61% (down 25 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.71% (down 24 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 186.8bn against TZS 140.0bn on offer, 133% of the amount sought, and TZS 58.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.18% to 15.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.76%, so the government is paying 195 basis points more than twelve months ago.
