Mozambique T-bill auction, 8 March 2017: 91-day at 24.43%, down 144 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 March 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 24.43% (down 144 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 26.67% (down 76 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 7.8bn against MZN 14.0bn on offer, 56% of the amount sought, and MZN 7.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 10.28% to 25.87%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 9.00%, so the government is paying 1543 basis points more than twelve months ago.
