Mozambique T-bill auction, 1 March 2017: 364-day at 28.45%, down 18 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 March 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 182-day bill at 27.43% (down 47 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 28.45% (down 18 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 3.6bn against MZN 6.0bn on offer, 59% of the amount sought, and MZN 2.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 11.10% to 28.84%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.58%, so the government is paying 1887 basis points more than twelve months ago.
