Mozambique T-bill auction, 8 February 2017: 91-day at 25.87%, up 155 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 February 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 25.87% (up 155 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 27.90% (up 66 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 2.7bn against MZN 3.0bn on offer, 89% of the amount sought, and MZN 2.5bn was accepted.
At 25.87%, the 91-day rate is the highest in the 18 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 8.53%, so the government is paying 1734 basis points more than twelve months ago.
