Mozambique T-bill auction, 1 February 2017: 364-day at 28.63%, down 21 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 February 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 182-day bill at 27.24% (down 23 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 28.63% (down 21 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 3.3bn against MZN 4.0bn on offer, 82% of the amount sought, and MZN 3.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.70% to 28.84%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.58%, so the government is paying 1905 basis points more than twelve months ago.
