Mozambique T-bill auction, 22 March 2017: 364-day at 29.74%, up 129 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 March 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 182-day bill at 27.40% (up 73 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 29.74% (up 129 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 7.5bn against MZN 18.0bn on offer, 42% of the amount sought, and MZN 7.5bn was accepted.
At 29.74%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 8 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.70%, so the government is paying 1904 basis points more than twelve months ago.
