At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 April 2016, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 28.00% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 28.42% (down 4 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 2.9bn and MWK 2.9bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 20.83% to 28.46%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 25.15%, so the government is paying 327 basis points more than twelve months ago.
