Malawi T-bill auction, 26 April 2016: 364-day at 28.80%, up 38 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 April 2016, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 28.47% (up 47 basis points), the 182-day bill at 28.56% (up 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 28.80% (up 38 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 2.7bn and MWK 2.7bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 28.80%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 17 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 25.15%, so the government is paying 365 basis points more than twelve months ago.
