Malawi T-bill auction, 12 April 2016: 91-day at 27.95%, up 26 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 April 2016, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 27.95% (up 26 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 28.48% (up 44 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 17.5bn and MWK 17.5bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 27.95%, the 91-day rate is the highest in the 16 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 26.88%, so the government is paying 107 basis points more than twelve months ago.
