Egypt T-bill auction, 17 June 2025: 364-day at 25.22%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 June 2025, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 28.62% (up 73 basis points), the 182-day bill at 27.48% (up 11 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.22% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 232.1bn against EGP 110.0bn on offer, 211% of the amount sought, and EGP 114.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 24.45% to 26.25%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 25.91%, so the government is paying 69 basis points less than twelve months ago.

Put EGP 100,000 into the 364-day bill at this auction and you get back EGP 125,220 after 12 months: EGP 25,220 in interest before any withholding tax, about EGP 2,102 a month.

For shorter money: EGP 13,741 on the 182-day bill (6 months), EGP 7,155 on the 91-day bill (3 months).
The government pays the full amount at maturity; the risk is Egypt’s government not paying, and the money is locked until then.
