Egypt T-bill auction, 25 March 2025: 364-day at 24.53%, down 60 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 25 March 2025, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 27.35% (down 62 basis points), the 182-day bill at 26.16% (down 103 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 24.53% (down 60 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 431.4bn against EGP 160.0bn on offer, 270% of the amount sought, and EGP 189.5bn was accepted.
At 24.53%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 30.14%, so the government is paying 561 basis points less than twelve months ago.

The government pays the full amount at maturity; the risk is Egypt’s government not paying, and the money is locked until then.
