Egypt T-bill auction, 18 March 2025: 364-day at 25.13%, down 57 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 March 2025, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 27.97% (down 265 basis points), the 182-day bill at 27.19% (down 150 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.13% (down 57 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 682.2bn against EGP 155.0bn on offer, 440% of the amount sought, and EGP 235.6bn was accepted.
At 25.13%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 32.30%, so the government is paying 717 basis points less than twelve months ago.

For shorter money: EGP 13,594 on the 182-day bill (6 months), EGP 6,993 on the 91-day bill (3 months).
The government pays the full amount at maturity; the risk is Egypt’s government not paying, and the money is locked until then.
