Egypt T-bill auction, 11 March 2025: 364-day at 25.71%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 March 2025, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 30.62% (up 55 basis points), the 182-day bill at 28.69% (up 57 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.71% (up 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 457.8bn against EGP 150.0bn on offer, 305% of the amount sought, and EGP 146.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 25.27% to 30.14%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 29.91%, so the government is paying 421 basis points less than twelve months ago.

The government pays the full amount at maturity; the risk is Egypt’s government not paying, and the money is locked until then.
