Egypt T-bill auction, 12 July 2022: 364-day at 15.61%, up 152 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 July 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.56% (up 28 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.51% (up 28 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.61% (up 152 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 58.9bn against EGP 45.0bn on offer, 131% of the amount sought, and EGP 37.2bn was accepted.
At 15.61%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.27%, so the government is paying 235 basis points more than twelve months ago.
