Egypt T-bill auction, 5 July 2022: 364-day at 14.09%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 July 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.29% (up 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.23% (down 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.09% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 60.5bn against EGP 45.0bn on offer, 134% of the amount sought, and EGP 33.3bn was accepted.
At 14.09%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.22%, so the government is paying 87 basis points more than twelve months ago.
