Egypt T-bill auction, 6 March 2018: 364-day at 16.89%, up 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 March 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.99% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 17.91% (up 20 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 16.89% (up 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 65.4bn against EGP 22.8bn on offer, 288% of the amount sought, and EGP 22.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.43% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.81%, so the government is paying 292 basis points less than twelve months ago.
