Egypt T-bill auction, 24 October 2017: 364-day at 17.85%, down 13 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 October 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.82% (down 13 basis points), the 182-day bill at 18.91% (down 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.85% (down 13 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 55.4bn against EGP 19.8bn on offer, 281% of the amount sought, and EGP 22.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.84% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.44%, so the government is paying 141 basis points more than twelve months ago.
