Egypt T-bill auction, 17 October 2017: 364-day at 17.98%, down 46 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 October 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.95% (down 14 basis points), the 182-day bill at 18.95% (down 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.98% (down 46 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 64.2bn against EGP 19.8bn on offer, 325% of the amount sought, and EGP 27.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.50% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.44%, so the government is paying 155 basis points more than twelve months ago.
