Egypt T-bill auction, 10 October 2017: 364-day at 18.45%, up 53 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 10 October 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 19.09% (up 27 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.08% (up 68 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.45% (up 53 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 55.0bn against EGP 20.5bn on offer, 268% of the amount sought, and EGP 26.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.44% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.42%, so the government is paying 202 basis points more than twelve months ago.
