Egypt T-bill auction, 3 October 2017: 364-day at 17.92%, up 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 October 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.83% (up 37 basis points), the 182-day bill at 18.40% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.92% (up 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 52.7bn against EGP 19.8bn on offer, 267% of the amount sought, and EGP 24.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.44% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.44%, so the government is paying 148 basis points more than twelve months ago.
