Egypt T-bill auction, 29 July 2014: 364-day at 12.46%, up 133 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 July 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.91% (up 9 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.46% (up 133 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 12.7bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 196% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 13.33%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.01%, so the government is paying 155 basis points less than twelve months ago.
