Egypt T-bill auction, 15 October 2013: 364-day at 10.96%, down 34 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 October 2013, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.76% (down 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.82% (down 29 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.96% (down 34 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 18.1bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 213% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 15.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.76%, so the government is paying 280 basis points less than twelve months ago.
