Egypt T-bill auction, 22 October 2013: 364-day at 10.99%, up 4 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 October 2013, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.90% (up 15 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.93% (up 11 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.99% (up 4 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 15.2bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 179% of the amount sought, and EGP 7.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 15.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.71%, so the government is paying 272 basis points less than twelve months ago.
