Egypt T-bill auction, 8 October 2013: 364-day at 11.29%, down 37 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 October 2013, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.84% (down 19 basis points), the 182-day bill at 11.11% (down 20 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.29% (down 37 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 22.0bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 258% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 15.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.59%, so the government is paying 229 basis points less than twelve months ago.
