Egypt T-bill auction, 31 July 2012: 364-day at 15.75%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 31 July 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 14.20% (down 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.21% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.75% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 16.1bn against EGP 8.0bn on offer, 202% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.94% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.78%, so the government is paying 297 basis points more than twelve months ago.
