Egypt T-bill auction, 7 August 2012: 364-day at 15.76%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 August 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 14.19% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 15.20% (down 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 15.76% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 11.1bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 170% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.98% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.85%, so the government is paying 291 basis points more than twelve months ago.
