Egypt T-bill auction, 24 July 2012: 364-day at 15.77%, down 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 July 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 14.24% (down 13 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.24% (down 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.77% (down 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 15.0bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 230% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.85% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.85%, so the government is paying 292 basis points more than twelve months ago.
