Egypt T-bill auction, 12 June 2012: 364-day at 15.91%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 June 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 15.32% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.91% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 9.5bn against EGP 6.0bn on offer, 158% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.78% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.96%, so the government is paying 295 basis points more than twelve months ago.
