Egypt T-bill auction, 19 June 2012: 364-day at 15.93%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 June 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 14.75% (up 30 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.36% (up 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.93% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 9.7bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 150% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.78% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.97%, so the government is paying 296 basis points more than twelve months ago.
