Egypt T-bill auction, 5 June 2012: 364-day at 15.89%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 June 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 14.45% (up 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.29% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 15.89% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 10.2bn against EGP 5.0bn on offer, 204% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.78% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.95%, so the government is paying 294 basis points more than twelve months ago.
