Egypt T-bill auction, 29 May 2012: 364-day at 15.90%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 May 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 14.39% (up 7 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.30% (up 10 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.90% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 9.9bn against EGP 5.5bn on offer, 180% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.78% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.94%, so the government is paying 296 basis points more than twelve months ago.
