Egypt T-bill auction, 22 May 2012: 364-day at 15.88%, up 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 May 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 15.19% (up 11 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.88% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 10.6bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 162% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.78% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.92%, so the government is paying 297 basis points more than twelve months ago.
