Egypt T-bill auction, 7 June 2011: 364-day at 12.96%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 June 2011, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.60% (up 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.58% (down 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 12.96% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 13.1bn against EGP 8.0bn on offer, 164% of the amount sought, and EGP 7.4bn was accepted.
At 12.96%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 43 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.57%, so the government is paying 239 basis points more than twelve months ago.
