Egypt T-bill auction, 14 June 2011: 364-day at 12.97%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 June 2011, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.60% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 12.59% (up 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 12.97% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 15.5bn against EGP 9.0bn on offer, 172% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.8bn was accepted.
At 12.97%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 43 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.87%, so the government is paying 210 basis points more than twelve months ago.
