Egypt T-bill auction, 5 October 2010: 91-day at 9.14%, down 28 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 October 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.14% (down 28 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 9.77% (down 17 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 13.1bn against EGP 3.5bn on offer, 375% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.5bn was accepted.
At 9.14%, the 91-day rate is the lowest in the 47 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 9.61%, so the government is paying 47 basis points less than twelve months ago.
