Egypt T-bill auction, 28 September 2010: 364-day at 10.61%, up 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 September 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.42% (down 8 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.94% (down 12 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.61% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 26.6bn against EGP 8.0bn on offer, 332% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.81% to 11.66%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.78%, so the government is paying 83 basis points more than twelve months ago.
