Egypt T-bill auction, 4 May 2010: 91-day at 9.94%, up 19 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 May 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.94% (up 19 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 10.31% (up 11 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 7.0bn against EGP 3.0bn on offer, 234% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 9.56% to 10.43%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 10.41%, so the government is paying 48 basis points less than twelve months ago.
