Egypt T-bill auction, 2 March 2010: 91-day at 9.56%, down 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 March 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.56% (down 7 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 9.95% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 7.3bn against EGP 3.0bn on offer, 244% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
At 9.56%, the 91-day rate is the lowest in the 36 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 10.51%, so the government is paying 95 basis points less than twelve months ago.
